In a world where children face increasing challenges—from broken families to abuse and emotional trauma—mentorship rooted in God’s Word is not just helpful; it’s essential. KICA Transforms Ministry (KTM) recognizes this, and in September 2024, took an intentional step to strengthen the capacity of its frontline mentors through a rich, three-day training focused on Community Bible Study, Child Protection, Psychosocial Support, and Monitoring and Reporting.

Northern Uganda has come a long way from its painful past of over two decades of war. For more than 22 years, the region endured unimaginable suffering, displacement, and the breakdown of social systems. However, the last ten years have seen a fragile but promising peace take root. As this peace continues to hold, a new challenge has emerged—how to rebuild the region and who will lead the process of recovery and transformation. At the heart of this lies a need for visionary and ethical leadership.

In 2022, KICA Transforms Ministry (KTM) conducted trauma healing and peacebuilding training among refugees living in Uganda—home to over 1.5 million refugees from South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and other conflict-affected nations. These refugees bring with them not only physical wounds, but also deep emotional scars and spiritual crises caused by war, displacement, and personal tragedy.
